VILIFICATION OF
BRITAIN
JAP-SPONSORED MOVEMENT IN NORTH CHINA
Peiping, To-day.
The vilification of things British continues in all Japanese-controlled newspapers in North
China.
One journal yesterday declared that the British authorities were secretly instigating Chinese bandits to disturb the Japanese rear under Bri- tish direction.
The paper also alleged that the British were supply- ing the bandits with arms, though how this is possible with the Concession blockaded, is not explained.

Much of the Japanese paign is being directed personal- ly against Mr. E. G. Jamieson, British Consul-General at Tien- tsin.
Statements by missionaries ar- riving from Shansi make it abun- dantly clear that the alleged anti- British movement there is Japan- ese directed.

At least three Japanese were seen participating in the pillag- ing of mission property in Shansi.
Some missionaries in Shansi were directly threatened, while missions and churches were plastered with anti-British post-

At a mass meeting held in con- nection with the Japanese cam- paign for the "enlightenment" of the public on British Far Eastern policy, Mr. Nagai, leader of the Minseito Party and former Minister of Communications, described the immediate discontinuance of British support for General Chiang Kai- shek as a cardinal point" of the forthcoming Anglo-Japanese nego tiations in Tokyo.
Mr. Nagai, who sharply criticis ed Britain's entire policy in the Far East "since the Opium War,” concluded his speech by demand- ing that every Japanese consider
himself "a soldier without a bayonet" for the fight against Bri- tain unless Britain abandons" "her present attitude in East Asia
