FURTHER BORDER JAPANESE ARMY
CLASHES
Hsinking, To-day Further clashes between Man- chukuoan and Soviet Outer Mongo lian troops occurred in the region between Chiangchunmie and Nomonkhan early yesterday morn- ing.
On the Outer Mongolian side two cavalry detachments, and two mechanised formations took part in the fighting while the Kwan- tung army was represented by á Komatsubara detachment. The clashes were marked by some hand-to-hand fighting.
The air force of the Outer Mongolian army played only an insignificant role in the fighting this time. Trans-Ocean.
ENLIGHTENING JAP. PEOPLE ON BRITAIN

A manifesto was issued here yesterday by the so-called “Japan ese Renovation party" in the course of propaganda to “enlighten the people on Britain."
The manifesto demands that the Japanese Government adopt a firm- er attitude towards Britain.

The attitude of the Japanese army towards the forthcoming Anglo-Japanese discussions was defined by the Japanese War Min- istry yesterday.
The Japanese army, it was de- clared, demanded first
all that Britain should consent to discon- tinuation of all support of the Chiang Kai-shek regime, for other- wise the negotiations would be meaningless. Britain should adapt her policy to the "new situation in the Far East” and should "show understanding" for the Japanese attitude in Tientsin.
The War Ministry spokesman emphasised that from the begin- ning of the Tientsin blockade the measures of the local Japanese military authorities had met with the fullest approval and support of the high command at Tokyo. Trans-Ocean.
