1 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons granulated sugar,
salt and pepper
1/4 cup vinegar
3 cups finely shredded cabbage Mix, sour cream, sugar, salt and pepper. Stir in vinegar slowly and mix with finely shredded cabbage, Chill before serving.

3 large or 4 medium size avo-
cados
Juice of
lemon
1 pound dry cottage cheese
2 tablespoons cream
2 teaspoons finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons chopped parsley:
1⁄2 cup chopped nuts

Choose ripe avocados. Peel, Cut around each avocado up to seed so you will have two length- wise halves. Remove seed. Sprinkle inside with salt and brush lightly with lemon juice. Moisten the cot- tage cheese with cream, Add the onion parsley and nuts season
with salt and pepper. Fill the avocado halves: level with this mix- ture. Place them in a tray be neath the freezing unit in the refrigerator and cover with waxed paper. Let them get very cold but not frozen. Arrange lettuce on plates and slice the filled avocados in 2 to 4 inch slices. Arrange three or four of these alices on the lettuce. Garnish with few peeled orange sections, Serve with French dressing.

I had a pair of favourite Court shoes
after became too loose fitting time. Shoes" may be
stretched, but how can you shrink them? This is what I did. They were dark. blue box calf shoes and held them under the tap for a minute and let the water run all over them inside and out. Then I placed them in the sun to dry. When dry and polished they. fitted perfectly again.

I had an old rectangular mos- quito curtain that had a few tears near the top. The holes became worse after the dhoby had handled it. Mosquito curtains are not cheap to buy. I lowered the frame that supports the curtain over the bed and then I cut about nine. inches off the net at the top, leav ing an inch of netting at the edge of the calico. Stitching? I used a chain stitch to join the net to- gether again. And the thread?. It was thick mending cotton bought on a card. It was easy to do and a neat piece of work that will last another three months, I hope.
