ALLIANCE Negotiations Carried A Stage Further

London, To-day.

A Moscow press telegram says that the negotiations on the anti-aggression pact were carried a stage further yesterday when the British Am- bassador and Mr. Strang again saw M. Molotov, the Soviet premier and Foreign Commissar. The meeting, which took place on the initiative of the Soviet Government, lasted for an hour and a half.

No statement was issued from either side, but ac- cording to press reports, Moscow attaches sig- nificance to the length of the conversations and to the absence of the laconic communique which on earlier occasions has signified Soviet rejec- tion of the Anglo-French proposals. This, it is said, is taken to in- dicate that the negotiations are | proceeding smoothly.
