The situation in the Far East will be discussed in the House of Lords on Thursday, says a British Wireless message from London.
London, To-day. The Sunday newspapers em- the phasise in their comment on international situation that now there is go excuse for anyone any- where to misunderstand the posi- tion of Great Britain. The "Sun- day Times" entitles its leading ar- ticle "British intentions placed be- yond doubt." The paper raises a memory of 1914 and the uncertain- ty which is alloged to have sur- rounded British policy at that time. It makes the pomt how different the position is to-day following_the. series of declarations by the Goy- ernment. In "The Observer," Mr. J. L. Garvin says that Lord Halifax, in his speech, "has done what was most needed if there is to be the faintest chance this sum-· mer and this month for any peace that would not be a peace of dis- British grace and disaster."
