CAMMELL LAIRD'S VERSION OF SINKING OF THETIS Crew Flooded By Water From Torpedo Tube EVERYTHING DONE TO SAVE LIFE
London, To-day. Mr. R. S. Johnson, Managing Director of Cammell Laird, builders of Thetis, gave a full explana- tion to the press yesterday of the cause of the disaster.
He said that when the crew opened the door of the flooded torpedo tube, the water overpowered them and they were only able to shut the door partially, and thus the two forward compart- ments were flooded.

THETIS ENQUIRY ON SAME LINES AS R 101

It is understood that the form of the enquiry now under considera- tion by the Government to investi- gate the loss of Thetis will be on the same lines as the enquiry into the R 101 disaster.
The latter enquiry was conduct- ed by a distinguished lawyer, as- sisted by technical assessors.
