Guiana Committee's Report Comes As Pleasing Surprise
FINANCE AT PRESENT A MAIN DIFFICULTY
London, To-day.
The British Guiana Commission's Report has been an agreeable surprise to the refugee organisa- tions here.
Mr. Pell, head of the inter-governmental refugee committee, described it as "decidedly encour- aging."
Reuter learns that finance is the main difficulty in
working the refugee machinery.
There is a paucity of funds for transport of refugees to the lands sélected, and also for development of these lands.
It is understood that a chartered company is being formed for these purposes.
First immigrants will be carefully selected, and will play the part of pioneers.
Mr. Pell has been in close touch with Berlin. regarding the evacua- tion of refugees from Germany, who has come some way in this matter leave but will not permit cash to the country-Reuter,

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE LESSON SERMON Subject: "Mortals And Immortals"
The subject of the Lesson Sermon in all Christian Science Churches to-mor- row 14th May will be "Mortals and Immortals".
The Golden Text will be:-"We that: are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be un- clothed, but clothed upon, that mortal- up of life". ity might be swallowed (11. Cor: 5; 4).
Among others the following citations will be read from the Bible: "Blessed, is the man that walketh. not in the .counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?” (Ps. 1: 1, 2, 6; Ezek. 18: 28).
The following citations will also be read from the Christian Science Text- book, "Science and Health with key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy:- "The Real man is spiritual and immor- tal, but the mortal, and imperfect so- called "children of men" are counter- feits from the beginning, to be laid aside for the pure reality. This mortal: is put off, and the new man or real man is put on, in proportion as mortals realize the Science of man and seek the true model. Human theories are helpless to make man harmonious immortal, since he is so already, cording to Christian Science, great spiritual fact must be brought out that man is, not shall be, perfect and immortal." (Pages 409, 490, 428).
