The Chief Justice: "Mr. Houston stated that he saw you talking to Chan Hing, who afterwards went and talked with the hawkers."

Appellant: "I did not see Chan ordered by Mr. Hing until I was Houston to arrest him."

Chief Justice: "I am only re- minding you what Mr. Houston testified he saw.”

BEGS FOR LENIENCY

Appellant insisted that he did not know Chan Hing previously, and, in begging for leniency, said that he was new to Hong Kong. "I have no friends or relatives here, and no means, otherwise I would have engaged a lawyer to defend me", said appellant.
