Intervening in the debate on foreign affairs in the Lords, the Foreign Secretary dealt with a num- ber of questions including rumours regarding Spain, the negotiations with Russia and Pre- sident Roosevelt's peace move.
Regarding the negotiations in Moscow, he said: "I don't think there is anything I can say at the present time beyond that we are engaged in active pursuit of those negotiations, and I have every hope that recognition of the differ- ent points of view will enable us to make that progress we all desire."
