PLAN TO SEND 500,000 MEN TO EMPIRE
The transfer overseas of 500,000 British workers and their families is only one item in an Empire plan to cure unemployment which Sir Henry Page Croft announced in a speech at Old Hill, Staffs.
He said the scheme would need a £350,000,000 investment spread over twenty years. All the capital would be repaid in fifty years with a profit.
He suggested that next year Bri- tain should start on this pro-
gramme:-
Readjust the tariff to eliminate £100,000,000 worth of manufactured imports and manufacture them in Great Britain, thus providing work, direct and indirect, for more than 500,000 people.

Increase the preferential tariff in Crown Colonies to ensure a market for an additional £50,000,000 worth- of exports to the Colonial Empire, making jobs for 250,000.
