Founded in 1936 with the origin- al purpose of providing machinery by which books of urgent political importance could be issued at very low price, the Left Book Club has soon become a fellowship and a movement, aiming at promoting the ideals of humanity, democracy and peace in opposition to Fascism and wanton destruction of people and civilization.

The work of the Left Book Club in Hong Kong, apart from follow- ing the general routine of discuss- ing the book of the month, will be to concentrated upon giving aid China, and with this aim in view the Committee has planned to com- bine lectures and discussions

on

concerning vital problems with practical help to soldiers and destitute civilian popu- lation.

On Monday, the Group will gather to discuss Agnes Smedley's latest book "China Fights Back" 8th hand account of the Army) and for defining the gramme of future activities.
