Chinese Hit Back In Han River Battle Zone
Ichang, To-day.
A series of counter-strokes by Chinese forces along the central Hupeh front has restored several key positions west of the Han River to Chinese hands during 'the week-end and brought the defenders once more within striking distance of Chungsiang, important stronghold on the eastern brink of the river. Singtsi, a small village three miles of Chungsiang, has been re-taken. The Chinese also attacked the Japanese posts at Chenkiatien and Tung- wan and re-occupied both places, forcing the enemy to retire to Chungsiang. At the same time, another Chin-,
