ITALIAN AIM IN ALBANIA Counter To British Sounding Of Yugo-Slavia

BELGRADE

TO IMPRESS ON "NEED" FOR M

GOOD RELATIONS

Rome, To-day. "Reports published abroad about the situation and relations between Italy and Albania, are ten- dencious and unfounded," declares a broadcast from Bari radio station reported in “Gazetta del Mezzogiorno."

It says that at the explicit request of the King of Albania, conversations are progressing for re- inforcement of the defensive alliance between the two countries..

The announcement alleges it is! not the intention of the Italian Government to make an attempt against the independence or inte- grity of Albania.

The move is regarded here assa counter-measure to British sound

ings of Greece and Yugo-Slavia re- garding the projected anti-aggres- sion front.

It is felt that Italy, by occupying Albania, might wish to impress on Athens and Belgrade the need of maintaining 'good relations with the Rome-Berlin. Axls and leaving Italy Becure in the Adriatic.
