SERGEANT'S BABY
In a paternity case before, the Whitehill, Hampshire, magistrates, Private Hudson, 15th Battalion, Duke of Wellington's Regiment, Bordon, voluntarily assumed res- ponsibility for the child of Ser- geant Francis George Coleman, Royal Engineers..
Sergeant Coleman applied for variation of an affiliation order made against him last March for payment of five shillings a week to, Mrs. Hudson, who was then single, for the upkeep of the child.
Private Hudson said he had no objection, and he asked for the cancellation of the order as he had

Questioned as to the advisability of his action, Hudson said he would be receiving an allowance from the Army.
The Court consented to the can- cellation conditionally on Mrs. Hud- son being able to restore the order if events required it.
