E.C. Fincher Beats Paul Kong
Superb Display Routs C.R.C. Star
FORMER PERAK CHAMPION AND GEORGE CHOA ALSO WIN
(By "REFEREE")
Teddy Fincher yesterday entered the third round of the Colony Singles Lawn Tennis Championship when he disposed of Paul Kong In straight sets by 6-2, 6-4. Fincher was in superb form and his passing shots on the backhand repeatedly scored against Paul Kong, whose ill-timed advances to the net met with disaster.
Fincher maintained-a beautiful length and although his fore- hand let him down once or twice, it functioned much more smoothly than usual. Paul Kong appeared much too casual in the early stages and obviously underestimated his opponent. His scooped forehand drive was not finding its mark and there were occasions when Fin- cher sent him helter skelter to the corners of the court.

Although Paynter has the higher aggregate, W. R. Hammond, skip- por of the team, heads the batting, followed by Paynter, Valentine Ames and Gibb.
