A fresh attempt to cross the Yellow River to sever the Lunghai Railway in northern Honan is be- ing made by the Japanese forces.
They succeeded on Tuesday in capturing Wenhsien, on the north bank of the river; which has changed hands several times in the past.
After occupation of Wenhsien, the Japanese bombarded Chishui and the railway station on the south bank.
A heavy Japanese force is concentrated at Tsinyang, presag- ing a fresh drive towards Meng- hsief; west of Wenhsien.-Central Newa.
