Recreio Defeat Midgets In Play Off

MEN'S SOFTBALL LEAGUE

In the second play-off in the triple tie for the Men's 'Softball League championship, Club de Re- creio beat Midgets by the narrow margin of two runs at King's Park yesterday.

Last week, Midgets beat Chinese Baseball Club, the other team in the tie, by 12-6, and next week, Club de Recreio will meet Chinese B.C. in the final play-off. A win for the latter in this game will again deadlock the positions. Yesterday's scores were:-----

LATE SCORING

Belfast, Saturday. Wales and Ireland are now at the top of the International Rugby Championship table as a result of the former beating the latter to-. day by a dropped-goal and a try (7 points) to nil

The ground was sodden after morning rain. Ireland seemed to enjoy the conditions more, and, an early forward rush forced play into Wales' half.

Fierce forward struggles ensued, with Wales getting the ball from the scrums, but they missed an op- portunity when Howard Davies fumbled a rolling ball, which went into touch as Moran came up to tackle, Wales nearly dribbled through a few minutes later, but Moran kicked into touch.

"

Ireland were close to scoring twice before half-time, when Cromey and Moran were both brought down by grim, tackling near the Welsh line.

Early in the second half, O'Loughlin broke through, but was just beaten for touch by Wooller. Then in the closing minutes of the Iri the English National Cross-game, and after having been stop- country Championship, which wasped near the line by Mayne, Willie run to-day at Worsley, Lancashire, Davies scored for Wales with a Jack Holden, of Tipton, retained his title, running the ten miles in 63 drop-goal, and Williams later went minutes 32 seconds. Use That Left

By BEST BALL

An educated left arm in golf is not generally speaking. the natur- al heritage of players. Observe any given group of beginners and you will notice fully ninety per cent of the total try to guide and lift the club up with the right hand. That these same players learn lat- er to use the left hand, in its pro- per capacity, is a testimonial to their patience and the wide-spread. use of proper golf, fundamentals to-day. The left arm not furnishes a great deal of the mo- tive power of the stroke, but also guides it in the right arc. In this respect it is not unlike the spoke of a wheel which keeps the rim at the proper arc.
