SYSTEMATIC DESTRUCTION OF RAILWAYS
Loyang, To-day.
Japanese military transporta tion in North China has been rendered extremely difficult by systematic destruction of rail- way lines by Chinese guerillas. The Peiping-Hankow, Tientsin- Pukow, Peiping-Suiyuan, Peip ing-Liaoning, and Chengtai Rail- ways have all suffered serious : damage, Large numbers of telegraph wires and poles were also torn down..

On the Peiping-Hankow Rail- way, sections between Tinghsien and Tsingfeng, Yingtal and Linmingko, Shaho and Neichiu, and Hsushui and Kucheng were wrecked. The bridge Machwang was dynamited.
On the Tientsin-Pukow Rail- way, extensive damage done to the track between Lien- chen and Anling, Anling and Paitou, Haushul and Kucheng, Tungkwang and Paitou, and Sangyuan and Tsangchow.

Damage to the Peiping-Sui- yuan Railway was. done between Shahochen and Changping and Maitachao and. Saratsi. : In clash with the guerillas over 30 Japanese guards were slain.
The Peiping-Liaoning Rail- way, principal route for Japan- ese military_transport between North China and Manchuria,
fared no better. A train was derailed between Tienchwang and Suikochwang, where rails were-torn up. Damage was also done to the section between Anting and Weishangchwang..
The narrow-gauge Chengtai Railway in Shansi suffered heavy damage in the sectors between Tsingsing and Wei
