CHILTERN FAVOURED

The ponies likely to be prominent
Candlelight (Mr. Pote-Hunt). Chiltern (Mr. Poy). Cocklorol (Mr. Needa). Pumpernickel (Mr. Proulx). Rugby Star (Mr. S.. W. Pan). Devonian (Mr. Hearno). Laffat That (Mr. Davis). Janbor (Mr. D. Black).
I did not like the way Janber gal- loped Inst Friday morning, and it will not surprise me if it does not start at all, as the pony has ovidently not recovered from the effects of its ac- cident.
I think the finish will be fought out botwoan: Chiltern, Ruby Star, Do vonian and Laffat That.
Chiltern is said to be the best pony among this year's lob of Australians, and its training has certainly Justified the confidence of its stablo" connee-. tions. If ridden by a stronger and more experienced fockey, Ruby Star would prove dangerous, as it is quito powerful and in my view it has the necessary stamina. Devonian, belong- ing to Lady Northcote, has a distinct Continued at foot of Preceding Col
