CHARGE AGAINST WATCHMAN
Said Hassan, private watchman at Nicholson Camp, was remanded on A charge of aiding and abetting in the theft of pine tree wood from Mount Nicholson.
It was alleged that two Indian guards stopped a Chinese carry- ing the wood, but defendant intér- vened and endeavoured to secure release of the man. One of the guarda asserted that defendant followed them into Stubbs Road and tried to start a fight.
Said Hassan pleaded not guilty. Ha Ho, who was caught with the wood, was fined $6 or three weeks.

Conversion Completed
The 2nd Bn. Royal Scots, now in China, will make the change from machine-gun unit to infantry at the discretion of the General Officer Com- manding in China.
Conversation to infantry has been practically completed in the following battalions:
2nd Bn. East Surrey Regt. 2nd Bn. Devonshire Regt. 2nd Bn. West Yorkshire Regt. This leaves the following seven bat- talions in India and other stations:
1st Bn. Royal Fusiliers, 1st Bn. Devonshire Regt. 1st Bn. West Yorkshire Regt. 1st Bn. Royal Scots Fusiliers. 1st Bn. Royal Welch Fusiliers. 1st Bn. Gloucestershire Regt. 2nd Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders,
