HONG KONG'S PROTEST AGAINST CLOSURE OF
PEARL RIVER
London, To-day.

The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. R. A. Butler, announced this at question time in the House of Commons yesterday in reply to a question from Sir J. S. PARIS PARLEYS ON SPAIN
Paris, To-day.
Quarters close to the Quai d'Orsay last night confirmed that the French Cabinet would, in the near future consider the question of diplomatic representation at Burgos.
French public opinion, however, will only be amenable to this re- versal of the French attitude after the Republican Spanish Govern- ment has officially ceased to exist.
Hopes are built on the attitude to be taken by the President of Republican Spain, Senor Azana, who will, it is stated, meet Dr. Negrin's representative, S. Esteha, Minister of the Interior at the Re- publican Spanish Embassy in Paris
