ST. ANDREW'S CLUB GIVE EXCELLENT SHOW

St. Andrew's Club has for some- time made it a practice of holding an amateur dramatic performance at least once a year.

the

In accordance with that practice, they opened a two-day season in Church Hall last night and more than maintained their reputa- tion for histrionic ability.

Two one-act plays, with an in- terval during which 2 varied miusical programme was dispensed, made for the thoroughly enjoyable evening spent by an almost capa- city house.

Associated with these produc- tions almost from the time of their inception, Miss Rita Cole in the leading role in the second of the plays, gave evidence of the experi- ence she has gained in a perform- ance which would not have dis- credited a professional.

London, To-day. Questioned in the Commons on the cocoa position in West Afri- ca, the Colonial Secretary replied that so far as the Commission's proposals for a cocoa farmers' as- sociation for collective marketing of cocoa in the Gold Coast was concerned, the Governor had ap- pointed a local committee to ex- amine the draft scheme prepared by the Commission and was now awaiting its report.

As regards suspension of mer- chants' cocoa buying agreements, the immediate effect had been to bring to an end the hold-up of co- coa by Gold Coast producers.

With the release of purchasing power from sales of cocoa, exces- sive stocks of imported merchan- dise which had accumulated dur- ing the dispute, had been gradual- ly worked off, and latest figures showed the import trade was be- ginning to function normálly again.

, But, Mr. Macdonald added, while the prices of all West African pro- duce, including cocoa, continued as low as at present, the import trade Lee-on-Solent, Donibristle and could not be expected to recover to Worthy Down, In addition, the a satisfactory level.-British Wire- Admiralty proposes as soon as less. possible to construct more air bages for its own use in various parts of the country.

Olive Jefferys' characterisation of the role of Mrs. Minister was good although she was inclined to speak too softly and to rush her lines. Many of her better jokes were missed by the audience in the back of the Hall.

I tried no end of other remedies, but got no relief whatever until one day I saw Kruschen advertised and thought I would give it a trial. I did, and to my surprise the lumbago left me after taking Kruschen for a fortnight. I am now taking it regularly every day and never felt so well in my life."-W.K,
