ENDS: TWO YEARS IN QUEEN'S & ALHAMBRA PRISON FOR CORRIGAN

London, To-day.

The jury in the famous China Arms Case, which ended yesterday at Old Bailey, retired three times before they could reach agreement. Dennis Michael Corrigan, the 46-year-old agent and central figure in the case, was found guilty of conspiracy only and was sentenced to two years' imprisonment.

Frederick Willing and James Oll Herbert Willing, Dutch subjects, were found not guilty on all counts and they were discharged.

Corrigan and the: Willings, whol are father and son, were charged with having conspired with Chou Tin-shu, the "mysery man" of the case, and others unknown to de- fraud Mr. Theodore. Laffitte, of Paris, of £7,250.

There were further charges of obtaining £7,250 from Mr. Laffitte by false pretences and of attempt- ing to obtain £4,000. ·

FILLED WITH BRICKS

The case was one of the most sensational for some time. Cases purporting to contain arms and ammunition for 'China, it will be recalled, were found to be filled with bricks and other rubbish.

Chou Tin-shu, whose name was repeatedly mentioned at the trial, was alleged to have been connected, with the Chinese Embassy in Lon- don.

Corrigan, in the course of evi- dence, said he was told that Chou was related to Dr. H. H. Kung, the Chinese Finance Minister, and that his wife was related to Madame Chiang Kai-shek.
