FIRE SWEEPS KOWLOON SHANTY-TOWN

A blaze that could be seen for some distance around occurred as the result of a fire which broke out among the Refugee huts in Canton Road shortly after 3.15 this morning.

Though the whole centre block was soon burning and there was a delay of 15 minutes before water was obtained, the Fire Brigade, consisting of three engines, Boon had the fire under control.
