"Gigantic" Badminton Tussle
St. Andrew's "B" Beat
S. and S. Home
A gigantic struggle took place at Sailors' and Soldiers' Home last night in the "B" Division of the Badminton League between the two potential "wooden-spoonists,”| St. Andrew's “B” and Sailors and Soldiers. On last night's result, this dubious distinction is likely to fall to the latter, as St. Andrew's emerged victorious in the narrow- est possible manner.
With the score at 4-all, the final game of the evening was played between F. A. Broadbridge, play- ing in his first game this season, and A. S. Eliss and Manuel and Thorn.
.
The home pair were leading at one period by 16-2 and it appear- ed any odds on their winning. St. Andrew's pair, however, were not dismayed by the magnitude of the task confronting them, and they rallied strongly to "set" at 20-all.
S. and S. then went to 4-2 only to fail at the crucial moment and St. Andrew's emerged worthy win- ners in an
extremely exciting game.
