AMERICAN "OPEN" TO BE PLAYED ON PAR 69 COURSE
New York, (By Air Mail) --For the first time in its history, the American Open Golf Champion- ship this year will be played over a par 69 course at the Philadelphia Country Club. The plan to reduce the par from 71 to 69 has beên approved by the United States Golf Association Championship Committee.
At two of the holes, the 479 yards eighth and the 480 yards iwelfth, on the club's Spring Mill course, where the "Open" 'will be played, par has been changed from 5 to 4. There will now be only one pár 5 hole yards eighteenth.
