FRANCO CLAIMS FURTHER SUCCESSES

Salamanca, To-day.

Further successes on the northern sector of the Catalan front, leading ·

to the capture of Concabella la Dorena, Sedo Ostafran and Ribo, are mentioned in an extra war communique.

Encirclement of Igualada has made further progress as a result of a considerable advance to the east and the capture of the villages of Penarosa, Castelnou Monfalco, Pestana and Olujas.

In the coast region, the southern wing occupied five villages, includ- ing Murcia and Torredemberra.

A session of the National Spanish. Cabinet was held not as usual in Burgos but somewhere behind the . the front in Catalonia, owing to fact that General Franco is person- ally conducting operations.

Great importance is attached to the successes on the northern sec- tor.

of

A Barcelona message says that the nationalist forces supported by tanks and artillery and aircraft con- tinued their offensive in the sectors of Belverde, Segur Argensola, Santa de Queralt and Villarodoma.

Despite stubborn resistance the Republican troops, the enemy succeeded in making minor territory gains. On the Estremadura front, all enemy attempts to dislodge the Republican troops from their cap- tured position were frustrated. | Trans-Ocean, ·
