Manila, To-day.

A Japanese-Filipino inci- dent occurred yesterday afternoon at Lauyenlkba- yat, оп Luzon Island, when twenty-six Japanese subjects, probably from For- mosa, who were alleged to be pirating lumber were fired on by the Filipino mili. tary.

One Japanese was wound- ed and captured, while the others escaped to their ship.

The prisoner is being brought to Manila and is be- ing charged with illegal en- try, pending investigations.

It is understood that the temper of the authorities here is rising against the Japanese as a result of recent alleged violations of Philip- pine waters.

There have been several instances in past months of Japanese fishing craft using forbidden grounds.

Meanwhile, Luzon has re- quested military reinforce. ments.
