"REFEREE")
The first (semi-final) rounds of the local International Rugby Tournament will take place this afternoon on the Sookunpoo ground, commencing at 2,45
p.m., when England and Ireland meet.
The second match will be held at 4 p.m. when Scotland meet
Wales. In both these
encoun-
ters some interesting play should

be witnessed, although it is ex-of the season, and Lt. Crawford, pected that England and Scot- Army's skipper, will comprise the land will contest the final, which wing forwards and middle-of-the- will be held on the Club ground back-row, next Saturday, January 21, com- mencing at 4 p.m.
England have a back division of Interport standard, comprising as it does of Club's powerful right wing threequarter pair of G. K. Chadwick and H. D. Bidwell and Navy's star pair of P. O. Aşkwith and Lt. Walt- ers, while Lt. Stevens, Navy's bril liant full-back, will be in support.

WALES' STRONG PACK Wales are strongly represented in the pack with Mr. Witherden, of Royal Navy, hooking and A. F. Walkden and Ldg. Sea. Romans, supporting him on the flanks. Lt. Boddington (Navy) and C. R. "Tiger", Davies (Club)
are other well known players in their pack.
Lt. Skelton, one of the "surprise" players of this season, will be seen at stand-off-half in support of Lt. Webster, who makes one of his rare appearances at the base of scrum.

Ireland are not able to field a fully representative side and H.
van Leeuwen (Netherlands) will assist them in the back division to- gether with G. S. Wilson, whom I believe is English. In Surg. Lt. Ellis and Ldg. Tel. Kelly, however, Ireland have a fast and dangerous pair of threequarters, who possibly give the English back divi- sion some anxiety,

I. G. P. THOMSON AT CENTRE: MANY SWITCHES IN THE PACK
(By AIR MAIL)
It will be noted with some dismay amongst Scottish Rugby followers that R. C. S. Dick is an absentee in the Scottish Rugby Union's final international trial match, which will take place to-day at Murrayfield and which include several surprise selections.
Dick, not only a great defensive player, but a possessor of brilliant touches and a running swerve without equal in Rugby football at the moment, has had business engagements that have made his availability doubtful, and there must be fears now that he will not play again for Scotland.
at the trial at Selkirk, is also an K. C. Fyfe, who made a return
absentee.
The feature of the Scotland team is that there are three changes from the XV which was victorious at Twickenham in March last. J. B. Borthwick (Stewart's College F. P.), like Dick, is missing, while W. F. Blackadder, who went into the team
in place of Borthwick against England, is in the Rest side.
NEW HOOKER,
A new hooker is required, of course, in place of J. D. H. Hastie, who has retired from the Melrose club matches, and R. W. Sampson, who got a good share of the ball at Selkirk, is included.
A surprising change amongst the forwards puts A. Roy in the front The teams are:

AMERICAN TENNIS TOURNAMENT AT K.C.C. TO-MORROW
One of the most popular tourna ments of its kind in the Colony, an American Mixed Doubles Tourna→
ment on the progressive system,
each set being limited to seven games, will be held at Kowloon
Cricket Club to-morrow afternoon,
commencing at 2.30 p.m. sharp.
The "Rest" forwards include several players believed to be past their best, and it may be that selec- tors, if left with problems, will have to go beyond the actual trial sides.
