VAST SOVIET WAR INDUSTRY EXPANSION

Moscow, To-day.

It is officially announced that the decisions to speed up Russia's defence industry have resulted in complete reorganisation of the Commissariat for Defence Industry.

This is to be divided into four separate Commissariats, namely, aviation. shipbuilding, war sup- plies and armaments.

This step reflects the vast expan- sion of the Soviet's defence indus- try following increases in the army and navy budget, which last year rose by 35 per cent, compared with 1937, and reached over £1,000,000,- 000, including £400,000,000 for war industries.-Reuter.
