STAFF, TRAINING AND WELFARE

A substantial increase in the establishment of the Department was approved in December 1976 and the total establishment amounted to 146 posts. At the end of March 1977 most posts were filled.
Training
12.66 A Government Engineer attended the 9th International Study Tour of British New Towns whilst on leave in the United Kingdom in 1976.
12.67 Regular staff seminars were held and were attended not only by architects, engineers and town planners in the Department but also by consultants. There were guest speakers from other Departments and non-Government organisations.
Welfare
12.68
The General Grades Staff Consultative Committee continued to meet quarterly and dealt with many matters of interest. It was also very active in organizing picnics and parties for its members.

The staff again enthusiastically participated in the annual dragon boat race in Tuen Mun on the occasion of the Tuen Ng Festival.
12.70
The Department's Christmas party was again held in the Sha Tin Government Offices.
