11.28 In January 1977 the Construction Division was reorganised on a functional basis into separate design and construction functions. The design function includes site investigations, design and the preparation of contracts for all new water supply projects, other than those schemes being carried out by consulting engineers. The construction function covers the supervision of construction and the commissioning of these projects on completion.
Hong Kong Island
11.29 Design of Elliot Salt Water Pumping Station and Pumping Main commenced but was subsequently suspended pending further investigation by Planning Division.
11.30 Design of Telegraph Bay Pumping Station Extension was put in hand.
11.31 A preliminary study leading to the detailed design of Pokfulam Service Reservoir No. 3 was commenced.
11.32 Construction work continued on the additional fresh water service reservoir and associated fresh water mainlaying for the Pok Fu Lam area.
11.33 Work was in progress on the Central District salt water distribution system.
Kowloon and New Territories
11.34 Construction works for extension of fresh water and salt water supplies to New Kowloon East high level areas were completed. The remaining distribution mains to Ngau Chi Wan area were under design.
11.35 Contract documents for the supply of steel pipes and fittings required for the extension of the suction main at Cheung Sha Wan Salt Water Pumping Station were completed and forwarded to Government Supplies Department for invitation of tenders.
11.36 Design and preparation of contract documents and contract drawings for the laying of fresh water mains for Stage I of the Yuen Long Water Supply scheme and for the second Trunk Feed between Lion Rock Tunnel and Shing Mun River were completed.
11.37 Design and the preparation of contract documents were put in hand for fresh and salt water service reservoirs at Tsing Yi and Sha Tin, for an extension to the service reservoir at Au Tau and for an access road from Wu Kau Tang to Sam Ah Chung.
