According to Chinese papers here, the British Consul-General has pro- posed to the Japanese authorities joint Anglo-Japanese administra-
tion of the Shanghai-Nanking and Shanghai-Hangchow railways
dur- ing hostilities.
The papers declare the Japanese promised to give due consideration to this proposal which provides that the Japanese pay monthly interest on the British capital invested the railways and depositing it at a designated bank.-Trans-Ocean.
