10.05 A schedule of all statutory outline zoning plans, departmental outline development and layout plans prepared in the office was issued half-yearly to other Government departments, utility companies and certain non-Government organisations for information.

10.06 The District Planning Branch is responsible for the preparation of statutory plans for existing and future urban areas and the New Towns, planning guides for rural areas, development control, and reservation of sites for Government departments and utility companies. It is also involved in the preparation of urban improvement schemes in the older urban areas. It provides planning advice to many Government departments and advisory bodies. The work of the branch is undertaken by the Urban District Planning Division, the New Territories District Planning Division, and the Design and Layout Section.
Urban District Planning Division
10.07 This Division is responsible for the preparation of draft statutory outline zoning plans for the urban areas, that is, Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and New Kowloon. It also prepares departmental outline development and layout plans for the Layout Plans Sub-Committee of the Land Development Policy Committee. The Division is responsible for development control and reservation of sites for government, institutional and community uses and for utility companies in the urban areas.
