Traffic Light Signals

Eleven additional sets of traffic light signals were installed on the Island, bringing the total number of sets now in operation to 122.

On the Mainland, 24 additional sets of traffic light signals were installed at intersections and crossing places. The total number of installations now in operation stands at 215.

The phasing and timing of existing signal installations were reviewed and adjustments were made where changes of traffic pattern had been observed, or to facilitate pedestrian movements.

Street Lighting

A total of 557 new lamps was installed on the Island, 1,323 in Kowloon and 979 in the New Territories.

Annual expenditure on street lighting on Hong Kong Island decreased by 12.4%, from $5,089,000 to $4,456,000. The expenditure for 1975/76, however, had included payment in arrears for 1974/75. On the Mainland, the annual expenditure on street lighting increased by 32% from $9,635,000 to $12,726,000.
Public Transport
