That the British Government still adheres to the Balfour declaration was affirmed by Lord Win- terton summing up the attitude of the British Government at the end of the Palestine debate in the House of Commons, after he had declin- ed the suggestion by Mr. Winston Churchill that in the case of failure of the London-Pales- tine conference the Jews should be armed and allowed to settle the Palestine problem them- selves.
