British circles interested in the China trade are be- ginning to express exasperation at the Japan- ese delay in fulfilling undertakings to restore normal shipping movements on the Yangtse as soon as the military situation permitted, Reu- ter learns.
هم
The complainants point out that Hankow was cap- tured long ago and the hostilities have now moved some 200 miles up river.
For many weeks past the. Jep-1 anese have been advertising sail-
ings of Japanese vessels on the SCHEME TO
Yangtse, carrying both freight| and passengers.
It is further asserted that in spite of Japanese assurances not to interfere with the rights and interests of other nationals, Japan is placing impediments in the way of foreign trade in other parts of China.
Notable example is Tientsin, where there is not even the ex- cuse of military operations to
Reuter. justify the action.

STRANGE MISHAP AT VALLEY
(By "RAPIER"}··
I have in the past witnessed vari- ous riding accidents at the Valley, but the one which occurred. this 4-morning was the most unusual: · I
have ever seen.

Messrs. Ho Hồng-ping and 8. L. Yuen were riding Good Morning and Tribute respectively, in a walking exercise, and they moving along serenely near the ning post, when from behind came Mr. Yeung Wing-kwai on National Dignity. The next moment Messrs. Ho and Yuen found themselves roll- ing on the sand track.
There was no collision between the ponies; it was simply a case of one pony, in flashing past, scaring the other two. Taken completely by surprise, the two riders were both. thrown, but fortunately were none the worse for their experience,
