NEW CUSTOMS
TARIFF FOR CHINA PREPARED BY JAPAN
A fundamental change in the Chinese Maritime Customs tariff for the Japanese-occupied areas in China to take place next spring is predicted by the usually well- informed Japanese. commercial paper Chugai Shogyo.

The Japanese Ministry Commerce and Industry is ready preparing the new tariff rates for those Chinese areas, and is discussing them with Jap- anese export circles in Osaka, the paper adds.

The chief consideration for the introduction of the
new tariff will be the establishment of the Japan-Manchuria-China economic bloc, according to the same
source.
The tariff rates of 1931 upon which the bogus customs.. tariff now in force in the Japanese controlled territories of China, including Shanghai, was largely based are being considered by the Chugai Shogyo as "already out of date."
