A firm stand to enforce the principles of the open door, in- cluding retaliatory and other measures to compel realisation that American interests in China must be respected, was urged in a resolution passed yesterday by the American Chamber of Commerce in Tien- tsin.

The resolution unequivocally endorses the United States note to Tokyo on October 6 request- ing the Japanese Government to cease discrimination against American enterprises in China. It complains among other things of Japanese censorship of American mails and maga- zines, travel obstructions, and exchange and trade control in Kalgan, which is alleged to be vitally affecting American busi- ness in Mongolian products.
