in the Defence Costs Agreement under which the United Kingdom Government has agreed to release to the Hong Kong Government the area of land now occupied by R.A.F. Kai Tak during the financial year 1977-78 and the area of land occupied by Victoria Barracks (except for approximately 4 acres) during the financial year 1978-79, subject to the reprovisioning at the expense of the Hong Kong Government of essential facilities at suitable sites.

Expenditure incurred in connection with Military works and services amounted to $62,711,484 represented by:-

Revenue and Receipts
2.29 As a result of the implementation of the Appropriations-in-Aid system, some revenue items are now classified as receipts appropriated-in-aid.

The revenue and receipts appropriated-in-aid collected by the Department during the year totalled $769.075M compared with $523.857M in the previous year. A comparison between the amounts collected in each of the two years on the main items of revenue and receipts appropriated-in-aid is shown in the following table:-
