PEACEFUL OCCUPATION BRINGS SENSE OF RELIEF TO HANKOW FOREIGNERS

Hankow, To-day.

A distinct feeling of relief prevails în all quarters to-day over the unexpectedly peaceful occupa- tion of Wuhan by the Japanese, and the ques- tion uppermost in the minds of foreigners now is when the Yangtse river will be re-opened. The situation at Hankow was thoroughly discussed to-day between Rear-Admiral Holt, Senior British Naval Officer, and Rear-Admiral Kon- do, commanding the Japanese Yangtse fleet.

Several Japanese Vessels, includ- ing a hydroplane and sampans, steamed up river past, the former Concessions yesterday, and are now believed to be landing troops in Hanyang.S
