MR. EDEN'S DRIVE FOR NEW GOVERNMENT

For Party Unity In Tackling National Defence

Whole National Economy Needs Overhaul

London, To-day.

Mr. Anthony Eden, speaking at the International Peace Society meeting at the Guildhall last night, again appealed for party unity in tackling the national defence problem. The former Foreign Secretary argued that we would continue to be outdistanced in the arms race as long as we continued our present methods.

If rearmament could be more efficiently and speedi- ly carried out by a Government representing all parties, then the case for such a government was surely unanswerable.

DAY WILL COME AGAIN Mr. Anthony Eden referred to the disillusionment due to the fact that the day of establisment of the rule of law, in international affairs for which millions the world over had ardently hoped after the last great war seented once more to be receding, and declared his faith that that day would neverthe- less come again.

It was inevitable "because there can never be true peace under the constant threat of war nor true happiness where might is the only right."
