SCOTLAND
DEFEAT IRELAND
AT SOCCER
Belfast, Saturday.
Scotland defeated Ireland to-day by 2 goals to nil in their International soc- cer classic played before 30,000 spec- tators. The weather was overcast and the ground heavy. A large contingent of Scotsmen travelled to Windsor Park to see their heroes win.
The teams were unchanged, and prior to the game, the players were intro- duced to the Irish Linen Queen, who presented each player with a box of linen handkerchiefs.
Scotland won the toss and soon prov- ed to be the more dangerous of the two teams, but O'Mahoney, Ireland's cen- Both tre-half, was strong in defence. sides missed scoring by inches. Corn- ers were given by both sides in the the early stages of the match, but goalkeepers were in magnificent form. Delaney and Walker were the goal-
scorers.
