(By AIR MAIL).
Singapore, September 25. THE Hong Kong Command hockey players met with their first defeat at Changi yesterday when they met the Combined Services. Definitely superior in attack, the home team scored four times without reply.
Plummer, the Services centre forward, seldom missed any chances, netting three times. Byrne was another Services attacker who caught the eye. Displaying good stick-work Plummer and Byrne struck a fine combination which often had the Hong Kong defence at sixes and sevens.
The visitors were good up to a point. Holmes the spearpoint of the attack, we good indivil- dually, but he had insufficient support.
The defence failed to hold the Services forwards.
INDIFFERENT START
Starting indifferently, the game developed into a fast and interest- ing struggle.
Last week the teams met at Tang- lin and drew 1-1 after an evenly contested match, but the Services were much the better side yester- day. It was the first major game to be played under the new rules.
THE TEAMS
Shortly after the initial bully-off, Plummer missed a good opening when be fumbled with a nice passpired and the teams were:- from Duke.

A good move by the visitors saw them within the circle, but nothing definite materialised.
Returning to the attack, the Ser- vices opened accounts through Plummer, who, receiving the ball from the middle, got through to beat Dobson with a well placed
drive.
GAME IMPROVES
The game improved, both sides putting more vim into their attacks. Duke was in a convenient position when he infringed the off-side rule.
Hong Kong attacked frequently enough, but there was no finish to their raids, Holmes, tried to score with a couple of individual efforts.
At half-time the Services still held the lead.
The Services exerted their superi- ority in the second half. Good feed- ing by the halves kept the for wards going, and it was not long before Byrne banged in the second goal on receiving from Plummer.

Two goals down, Hong Kong strove, hard to retrieve the position. Beadnell got through and about to take a shot well within the circle when MacDonald rushed out and kicked away.
HONG KONG NEARLY SCORES
Hong Kong attacked again and came near to scoring during a melee in the goalmouth.
Ten minutes from time Plummer put the Services three up with a fine drive.
