IN VINO PHILATELUS XINE and its associates have been credited with many virtues (as well, of course, as faults), chief among them being conviviality and promotion of truth. Now "the cup that cheers" is responsible for a pos- tage stamp, coming, appropriately enough, from the country so long as- sociated with the gayer aspects of liquid refreshment France.

For that rea- son, champagne is not sold under the name of a special vineyard, or lo- cality as most other wines are, but bears the name of the shipper who is responsible for the blend.
