POSSIBLE BOWLS INTERPORTERS

"SKIP" SELECTS HIS TWELVE MEN AGAINST SHANGHAI

F.X. SILVA SUGGESTED AS A NO. TWO!

SUGGESTED

C. G. SILVA, B. W. BRADBURY AND J. MCKELVIE AS SKIPS

(By "SKIP")

AS the Interport Lawn Bowls teams will no doubt be announced soon, the time seems opportune to discuss possible choices and to give my own sel- ected teams. I propose to go through the various Clubs first, Club de Recreio by reason of their place in the League table, being the first to come under review.

As Champions for two years in succession it may be expected that the Club has several candidates for honours. My first choice would be Joe Luz, who is bound to secure his place as lead in one of the rinks.

Another lead who has played a consistent game throughout the season is Leonard Xavier, and he must be considered for another of the vacancies. F. X. Silva had the honour of finishing up at the top of the Skips' table and it appears likely that two of his rink will secure recognition..

I do not consider that "F. X.” is worth his place as an Interport skip, in spite of his exalted posi- tion; my own opinion is that he would be a perfect Number two in one of the rinks whilst his name sake "C.G." will command attention as a Number Three in a differant rink of course.

$

Dick Alves. also seems sure of place, but where it will be it is hard to say. He is a most versatile player and, unlike some bowlers, can fit in anywhere and still play a good game. He proved that in the International did when Shield Final, just as he capped the last time Shanghai visited the Colony, when he was probably the star player of U. M. Omar's rink, which won the last match so hand- somely.
