(18,800 units) was completed and parts of the Kwai Shing Housing Authority estate (37,000 units) and Lai King Housing Authority estate (27,000 units) were completed and handed over to the Housing Authority. Work on the remaining parts of these two estates was nearing completion. Construction work continued by the Housing Authority on Ha Kwai Chung estate (19,200 units) and the first stage of Tsing Yi estate No. 1 (23,000 units).

12.33

The Kwai Chung Divisional Police Headquarters and Station, Stage II of Tsuen Wan Kwai Chung Polyclinic and Kwai Chung Technical Institute were completed and handed over to the Royal Hong Kong Police Force, Medical and Health Department and Education Department respectively. Building works commenced on the Tsing Yi Sub-Divisional Fire Station and a number of local open spaces, cooked food bazaars and refuse collection points.

Planning

12.34 The area of the new town is covered by three outline zoning plans, namely Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi. The first two were approved by Governor-in-Council on 13.11.73 and 24.12.74 respectively while the third is under review.

12.35

Metric base plans for Tsing Yi have been made available and the preparation of outline development plans for the main development areas on the Island was proceeding.

12.36 Revision of Imperial scale outline development plans for Tsuen Wan North and Kwai Chung continued as metric base plans were made available.

12.37 In the existing developed areas of the new town, Imperial scale outline development plans continued to be revised and over 130 miscellaneous plans were prepared in connection with advisory work on planning matters for both private and public proposals.

Land

12.38 During the year, land sales totalled 4,285 square metres of which 2,713 square metres are for industrial purposes. Thirteen private treaty grants, 23 land exchanges, eight modifications and 70 building covenant extensions were granted. In addition 42 agricultural lots totalling 38,846 square metres and 1 building lot of 161 square metres reverted to the Crown.
