continued on the routine per-capita consumption study and the analysis of monthly consumption from water accounts, for use in estimating demand trends by consumer categories. With the aid of a computer, conversion of impounding reservoirs and service reservoir capacity tables to metric units was completed. Design work and preparation of drawings for the lowering of a number of old dams in connection with the reservoir safety study was completed. Monitoring of the performance of dams continued.
Hydrological Section
11.22 Routine maintenance of 118 rain gauging stations, 26 stream and reservoir gauging stations, and one evaporation station continued. In connection with the High Island Water Scheme, weekly readings of water level at 19 observation wells and 12 low flow weirs also continued.
11.23 Construction of Siu Lek Yuen Upper stream gauging station was started.
11.24 Processing of data for Volume VIII of "Hong Kong Rainfall and Run Off" was completed. The report was published and copies were issued to interested organisations. Data processing for Volume IX was completed and preparation for printing was nearly completed. Data processing for Volume X and data abstraction for Volume XI in this series was in hand.
11.25 Printing of the revised edition of "Gross Yield of Hong Kong Reservoirs - Revision 75" was completed and the report issued.
11.26 Writing of computer programmes for a revised system of processing, accommodation, and presentation of hydrological data was completed. Testing and amendment of the programmes started.
