UNINSPIRING TENNIS
AT U.S.R.C.
H. D. RUMJAHN EASILY BEATS
LEE WAI-TONG ·
(By “ADREM”)
CANNOT truthfully say that I was greatly inspired by the Hard- court Championship tennis at the United Services Recreation Club yesterday afternoon. To begin with, one match was cancelled and the entire programme was confined to two rather dull singles.
In one of them, H. D. Rumjahn, although making more mistakes than usual, made sufficient use of the court to expose the dreadful in- adequacy of Lee Wai-tong's ground-stroke equipment.
Lee's backhand chop is
fair a
defensive stroke, but his forehand
would not do credit to an average HARDCOURT
League player of about "C" Divi-
sion standard and as a means of TENNIS
pulling out a potential passing shot, it was a nonentity.
