In an effort to clear the Japanese troops from the north bank of the Yellow River, in north- western. Honan, opposite to Loyang, the Chin- ese forces in the Taihanshan Mountains, launched a general offensive in an attempt to push southward towards the waterway, ac- cording to military despatches received at Chinese Headquarters.
